Finding the Missing Number in a Sequence

The image displays a sequence of numbers: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16. It appears that each number in the sequence is double the previous number. Here is the pattern explained: - The first number is 1. - The second number is 1 × 2 = 2. - The third number is 2 × 2 = 4. - The fourth number is 4 × 2 = 8. - The fifth number is 8 × 2 = 16. To find the next number in the pattern, we would double the last number: - The sixth number would be 16 × 2 = 32. So the missing number in the sequence that should be filled in is 32.

Pattern of Growth in Figure Sequence

To describe the pattern of growth in the given sequence of figures: 1. Start with Figure 1, which consists of a single square. 2. Moving to Figure 2, a new square is added to the right and one above the original square, creating a shape similar to an "L." 3. For Figure 3, the pattern of adding squares continues, with one square added to the right of the existing structure and another square on top, extending the "L" shape. 4. Figure 4 shows that the same pattern is followed: adding one square to the right end of the bottom row and another square on top of the rightmost column. From this, it can be inferred that as the sequence progresses to each next figure, two squares are added: one to extend the bottom row and another on top of the new rightmost square to build a step-like structure. You can extrapolate that the next figure in the sequence (Figure 5) would follow the same pattern. There would be a new square added to the right side on the bottom to extend the row and another square placed on top of that, maintaining the step-like or stair-like structure.
