Solving the St. Ives Riddle
The riddle in the image is a classic brain teaser. It reads: "On my way to St. Ives, I met a man with seven wives. Each wife had seven sacks, each sack had seven cats, and each cat had seven kits. Kits, cats, sacks, and wives. How many were going to St. Ives?" The trick to solving this riddle lies in the first sentence: "On my way to St. Ives, I met a man with seven wives." If you met them on the way to St. Ives, it does not necessarily mean that the man, his wives, their sacks, cats, or kits were going to St. Ives. Therefore, the only person implied to be going to St. Ives is "I", which refers to the person speaking in the riddle. The answer is that only one person was going to St. Ives.
The Misleading Riddle
This question is a brain teaser or riddle, not a literal situation requiring a solution. The answer is that the woman shot her husband with a camera, not a gun. She holds him underwater because they are taking underwater photos. Finally, she "hangs" him by putting the picture on a wall to dry or hang, not in the sense of executing him. Then, they go out for dinner. The play on words is intended to mislead the reader into thinking about a violent scenario, while in reality, the actions are all harmless.
